Fresh Ginger Mint Lemonade (sugar-free)

Super refreshing, this ginger mint lemonade is like energizing rocket fuel! It contains three simple ingredients, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a delicious duo of ginger and mint. I first had this ginger mint lemonade “slushy” on our last day in Aix en Provence. What a great combo. Especially for someone like me who prefers tart over sweet. Try it once and you’ll find yourself craving its thirst-quenching flavor, plus you can feel good about all the powerful benefits delivered from simple every day superfoods like lemon, ginger and mint.

The only thing I have stumbled upon that remotely resembles this healthy slushy is the new emergence of lemon ginger shots. I love these. Every time I’ve travel to Stockholm for work I grab one of these at the airport’s juice bar: Joe and the Juice.

Joe and the Juice, with its loud music, laid back atmosphere and ultra-healthy smoothies (and coffee, hence the “joe” as in “cup of joe”) has locations across Scandinavia, the UK, surprisingly enough Hamburg and a few other cities across the globe. What I find quite humorous about their friendly, funky concept is that they always collect tips for some amusing cause, at their Arlanda airport location it was for Tinder dates for their fresh-faced Abercrombie boys and here in Hamburg, a gym membership for one of the flirty club boys.

Fresh Ginger Mint Lemonade (sugar-free)
So before long maybe we will be requesting ginger mint lemonade from our local juice bar. Or we could continue to make them at home, save a WHOLE lot of money and be praised by our friends for being such a visionary. Okay, I’m a little hyped up over this delightful refreshment.

So what makes this ginger mint lemonade so very good for you?

First of all, there is lemon. If you haven’t read my post on the benefits of drinking lemon water, you should. Lemon water is a powerful detox drink; it helps cleanse and alkalise the body.

Then there is ginger. It is has powerful detoxifying effects and is fantastic for cleansing out your system; it aids in digestion and settles your stomach. Read more here.

And finally mint: a pretty amazing herb. It helps eliminates gases, prevents stomach acid, aids in nutrient absorption, is an anti-inflammatory, relaxes you, and relieves nausea. Plus it will help freshen your breath. BAM!
